Homeowners who are looking to increase the appeal of their property can use tricks to make rooms appear bigger than they are.
That is according to Hugh Jamieson, member of the British Interior Design Association (BIDA) and senior designer for At Home, who said that, when it came to mirrors, "the larger the better".
He explained that mirrors could be employed in certain ways to enhance interior space.
Mr Jamieson commented: "If you are able to put mirrors at each end of a hallway so they are opposite each other, you are going to get reflection that repeats the process on and on and on.
"If you can put mirrors at right angles to windows, right by the window, then you are going to get a lot more extra light into a room."
He added that rooms could also be made to appear larger by using stripes, which help give "the illusion of more height".
